HostGator pricing depends on the product, term, initial promotion, and extras. Use a complete checkout and renewal worksheet instead of relying on an old “starting at” figure. The official regular-price chart and your account’s quote answer different questions.
If this operating setup fits your needs, check the current HostGator offer while you compare the requirements below.
What was verified
On October 5, 2026, parts of the extracted shared-hosting sales page showed placeholder prices rather than usable dollar amounts. I am not replacing those placeholders with remembered promotional prices. Check the live selected offer for the current initial charge.
The official USD regular-price chart listed one-year shared totals of $158.27 for Hatchling, $224.27 for Baby, and $290.27 for Business. It explains that full-term selections are paid upfront and monthly breakdowns are averages. Confirm the current product and account quote before purchase or renewal.
Do not assume the regular chart establishes today’s coupon. Its purpose is recurring pricing. The sales policy says introductory offers apply to the initial term, with later renewals at regular rates shown in the control panel.
Read the product name and term
Shared, WordPress, ecommerce, VPS, and dedicated hosting can have different prices and responsibilities. A generic HostGator recommendation does not establish which product your application needs.
Current scalable-shared documentation also differs from some legacy descriptions. Verify website allowance, storage, and important tools against the selected product. If official pages conflict, ask support for a current written answer rather than combining the most generous claims.
Initial payment versus recurring budget
A hypothetical $120 prepaid year averages $10 per month but requires $120 today. A $15 monthly subscription costs more over a year but preserves flexibility. These are illustrative numbers, not current merchant offers.
A long term can make sense for a stable project. It is harder to justify if the site has not been validated or may change platforms. Read cancellation and refund exclusions before prepaying.
Domain benefits and renewals
The current sales policy describes eligible first-year domain offers and later regular renewal. It also describes conditions and charges associated with retaining a bundled domain after cancellation. Check the exact checkout and agreement.
Domain registration is separate from hosting. You can keep a domain elsewhere while using HostGator. If bundling simplifies administration, still record its renewal and recovery details separately.
Email trials and optional services
The checked sales page described a professional email trial that renews automatically. Decide whether you need the mailbox and put its end date in your calendar. If external email already works, avoid adding a second provider accidentally.
Backup and security products can be separate subscriptions. Identify the actual included backup tool and what an extra service adds. The current Basic Weekly guide describes one restore point and excludes email.
A more frequent backup can matter for a site updated daily, but price it against a defined recovery need. Do not buy an add-on solely because its name sounds protective.
Professional migration costs
The current professional migration guide listed $149.99 for a single website at the checked date. It also described eligible free migration cases for certain VPS and dedicated terms. A sales-page migration tool is a different path.
Include assistance costs if you will not move the site yourself. Clarify whether external email, changed domains, special application components, and new data during migration are covered.
Build a fair comparison
- Current initial charged total and term.
- Applicable renewal quote.
- Website, storage, and workload allowance.
- Domain renewal and privacy costs.
- Email subscription after trial.
- Backup and security extras.
- Migration work and refund rules.
Compare equivalent terms across alternatives. Do not compare a regular annual rate with another provider’s multi-year introductory average. Keep mandatory fees and taxes visible.
Frequently asked questions
Does the advertised discount continue?
The policy describes initial-term promotions. Check the applicable renewal in the account.
Is a monthly breakdown paid monthly?
Not necessarily. The price chart says full-term selections are billed upfront.
Are all migrations included?
No. Professional assistance and tool-based options have different conditions.
Choose from verified totals
Open the current checkout, save the initial and renewal terms, and select only the services your site needs. When a price cannot be verified, request the current quote instead of budgeting from an outdated review.
