Signing up for Anytime Mailbox involves more than choosing an address and paying. For U.S. mail receipt, identity and authorization must be completed. The safest practical sequence is to confirm the location’s services, prepare the right documents, activate receipt and test delivery before changing critical sender records.
This guide covers that sequence from published documentation. It is not a firsthand account of a completed signup, and the selected operator can have additional process details.
Choose a location that performs the required work
The official service page describes scanning, forwarding, pickup and selected-location check deposit. Identify the actions you need and ask the operator to confirm them. A plan’s low price does not establish that every action is supported.
Confirm pickup hours, carrier acceptance, parcel limits, storage windows, scan charges and forwarding fees. Ask where physical-mail support is handled and how to contact the operator. Save the location’s complete fee schedule before paying.
If the address is needed for a bank or agency, obtain that institution’s acceptance separately. Anytime itself warns that official business and banking uses may face restrictions. Do not make a verification-dependent purchase on a general address claim.
Read the current USPS form
The current USPS Form 1583 is the authorization for delivery through an agent. It collects the applicant’s actual home address, mailbox information, service type and identification. Business use requires business information as well.
The instructions require two identification types: a government-issued photo ID and a document confirming the address. The listed acceptable address documents include categories such as a current lease, specified insurance documentation and vehicle registration. Use the current form’s list, not an assumed utility-bill rule from an old tutorial.
A driver’s or nondriver’s ID can serve one identification role, not both. Check expiration, names and address consistency before uploading. If you are uncertain about a foreign document, ask the operator before booking notarization.
Prepare every recipient correctly
For personal use, the current form calls for a separate authorization for each adult using the mailbox. For a business, complete the organization fields and follow the instructions for listed recipients. A plan that allows multiple names does not remove authorization requirements.
Make a recipient list with exact legal names and any business trade names. Ask the operator how names must appear in the account and on incoming mail. A spelling discrepancy can create an avoidable delivery or verification issue.
Authorized pickup is another matter. If someone else will collect physical items, ask what identification and authorization the location needs. Do not assume account access automatically permits in-person collection.
Complete the operator’s verification process
Anytime’s official page describes providing identification and completing Form 1583. Confirm whether the location uses in-person verification, a supported online notary process or another approved route. Ask about any added fee and appointment timing.
Use the provider’s secure document-upload route. Identity documents should not be sent to an unverified email address merely because a message asks for them. Check the request against the operator’s published support channel.
Review the populated form before signing. Accurate home, business and recipient information matters. The mailbox address is where mail will be delivered, not a substitute for your actual home address in the applicant fields.
Wait for activation before redirecting
Ask for confirmation that the location is authorized and ready to receive your mail. A successful payment and a completed identity upload are different milestones. Keep the confirmation and the exact address format.
Send a noncritical test letter. Check that the correct recipient appears, the item is visible, and a requested scan is readable. Confirm that notifications reach your monitored inbox or device. Resolve setup issues before moving legal, financial or identity correspondence.
Change important senders directly
Make a sender list: bank correspondence, insurance, agencies, suppliers and personal contacts. Update the mailing field where appropriate and retain truthful residential or physical-location information where required.
Postal forwarding can support the transition under the relevant rules, but it is not a substitute for sender updates. Confirm each change and leave enough overlap to receive mail still directed to the old address.
Keep a simple test log for the first month: expected item, sender, arrival and action. That catches mistakes early and helps the operator investigate a missing item.
Set a mail-handling policy
Decide which originals to retain, which scans to export and who may authorize destruction. Check storage charges and act before free windows expire. If an assistant manages the account, give them clear categories and escalation instructions.
Choose an Anytime location after verifying its scope. A clean signup ends with authorization, tested delivery and a sender-update plan, not merely a paid subscription.
