MyCompanyWorks is a formation-service option to investigate when you want help with the paperwork and an organized sequence of setup tasks afterward. The interesting part of its offer is the workflow around the filing, rather than an assumption that the provider will run the business’s compliance for you.
That distinction matters for a remote business. Filing the LLC can be a short project. Maintaining records, reading agency notices and making the next required filing is continuing work. A formation service is useful when its documents and reminders make that work easier to manage.
The published service approach
MyCompanyWorks’ service explanation describes preparation and submission of formation documents, name checking, setup materials and its Startup Wizard. The point of those tools is to give you a sequence instead of leaving you with only an approved state certificate.
Evaluate the actual tasks in that sequence. A banking resolution or generic operating-agreement template can be useful starting material. It does not establish that a bank must open an account, or that a template is suitable for complicated ownership terms. Your business facts still control the result.
The company also offers optional services beyond initial formation. Keep recurring premium or agent services separate from the original package. It is easy to think a package is a one-time purchase while an additional service quietly renews each year.
Read the live state-specific order
The official order form requires an entity, state and package selection. That is the correct place to compare the current Basic, Entrepreneur and Complete offers for your situation. I would not apply a price observed for one entity or state to every possible order.
A separate official LLC order example shows optional registered-agent service at $119 per year and a premium service line at $139 per year. These are dated examples, not a guarantee of your checkout amount. Confirm both the inclusion and renewal price on your selected order.
Record the government filing fee in a different column from the preparation charge. Then mark any expedited service, EIN assistance or recurring add-on. Saving the final order summary makes a future renewal much easier to understand.
Choose by the next task you need
If your requirements are straightforward and you are comfortable completing setup, a narrower formation package may be enough. If you want a guided task list and several included documents, compare the higher package’s actual deliverables with the price of buying those separately.
A good test is whether you can explain each extra in one sentence: this produces my EIN application, this provides agent service for a stated period, or this prepares a specified report. If the explanation is only that it sounds more complete, you need more information before paying.
For multiple owners, do not let convenience choose your ownership terms. A generic agreement may fail to address exit rights, deadlocks, contributions or authority to bind the business. Decide whether you need tailored legal drafting before treating a package document as finished.
Registered-agent service: operational questions
The basic requirement is reliable receipt of official correspondence in the relevant jurisdiction. Ask how documents reach your account, how notifications work, whether an alternative contact can be added and what happens if email delivery fails.
Then ask about switching. If you already have an agent, find out who submits the state change, what government fee applies, and when the appointment becomes effective. Keep the old service until the replacement is properly recorded. Cancelling a charge does not itself update the state.
If you register the company in more than one state, evaluate each jurisdiction. The SBA’s launch guidance is a starting point for registration and related setup topics, but the state agencies supply the controlling forms and deadlines.
Compliance assistance is not a blanket guarantee
A reminder can help you avoid overlooking an annual report. A filing service can prepare a stated submission. Neither automatically checks every local license, sales-tax registration or foreign-ownership reporting issue. Read the service definition and exclusions.
When a premium offer mentions compliance, ask for a list of included filings. Is the government charge included? Are amended reports extra? Does the service cover only the formation state? Who supplies the financial or ownership information? Those questions turn a marketing promise into something you can compare.
Build your own obligation register with the agency name, due date and assigned person. Put the provider’s task beside it. That makes any uncovered work visible, and keeps a reminder subscription from becoming your only source of compliance information.
Current government rules still matter
For an EIN, the IRS describes its free application process. Provider assistance is a separate convenience service, and online eligibility depends on the applicant. Ask which application method will be used if your responsible party cannot use the online route.
For BOI reporting, check FinCEN’s current page before buying help. It currently states that U.S.-created companies are exempt. Foreign-created entities registered in the United States may fall under a different rule. An old setup checklist should not dictate a new purchase.
A formation provider’s records also do not determine your tax position. Ownership, activity, locations and elections can matter. If those questions are uncertain, get appropriate professional advice before filing a structure that is inconvenient to change later.
How to compare the service
Compare MyCompanyWorks with Northwest Registered Agent when you care about ongoing agent service and workflow support. Compare it with Bizee when minimizing the formation preparation charge is the starting priority.
Use the same entity and state in every order. Include the agent years you expect to keep, the required documents and any actual filing assistance. A higher initial price can be reasonable if it replaces work you need; a lower initial price can win when the extra tools are unnecessary.
Do not make claims about response times or filing accuracy from the feature list alone. This assessment uses published scope, not a completed order or measured support test. If those qualities are decisive, ask for written service standards and review recent independent evidence separately.
My verdict
MyCompanyWorks is worth shortlisting for founders who want a formation process accompanied by organized setup materials. Its practical value depends on the package’s actual documents, the usefulness of the workflow, and the renewal terms for optional services.
Check the current MyCompanyWorks order for your state, and identify who owns every remaining task. Choose it for a concrete service scope, with a separate plan for legal advice, taxes and obligations outside that scope.
