MyCompanyWorks vs Northwest Registered Agent: scope and support

Affiliate disclosure: I may earn a commission if you buy through links in this guide. That does not change your price. This is a documentary assessment of published information, not a hands-on test or a claim that I used this service.

Research checked October 5, 2026. U.S. pricing unless stated otherwise; checkout, taxes, location and selected services can change the total.

MyCompanyWorks and Northwest Registered Agent are useful to compare when you want formation paperwork and an ongoing administrative relationship. The decision is the workflow and service scope you need, supported by the actual state-specific order.

MyCompanyWorks describes setup guidance and a Startup Wizard. Northwest emphasizes agent service, permitted address use and a business-identity bundle. Neither feature list decides the legal structure, tax treatment or obligations of the business.

Start with matching orders

Open the same state and entity type in each provider’s current order. Northwest’s public formation offer advertises $39 plus state charges and an initial agent year. MyCompanyWorks’ official order form requires selections before the applicable package is clear.

Do not compare a selected all-in package with a bare preparation fee. Record formation, state fee, documents, agent duration and optional recurring services separately. If a promotion differs from the public page, save the written checkout terms.

A formation service charge is not a government fee. Required state reports and taxes later are not automatically included in the first payment.

Agent pricing and role

Northwest’s agent page lists $125 per year. A MyCompanyWorks official LLC order example shows $119 annually as an optional agent line. Confirm your selected order instead of applying that example universally.

The small published difference should not decide the purchase by itself. Ask about document access, notifications, contact changes, state coverage and the replacement filing process. Reliable receipt and a monitored business response are the actual purpose.

An agent does not become your tax preparer or attorney. Notifications and reminders help you manage obligations, but they do not perform every required task.

Setup workflow

MyCompanyWorks’ service explanation describes formation documents, setup resources and guided steps. Compare those tasks with work you need to complete after state approval. A clear workflow can be useful for a first-time founder.

Northwest’s formation offer describes templates and business identity tools. Evaluate whether domain, email, phone or website benefits replace something you need. A basic bundled website should not be presumed equivalent to an ecommerce platform.

For both, ask whether included documents are templates or tailored advice. A multiple-owner company may require terms about contributions, authority and exits that need qualified legal review.

Address privacy

Inspect the current state form and identify public address fields. Ask each provider which uses are permitted and what general-mail handling is included. Northwest’s address explanation is a useful starting distinction between agent and other address purposes.

Using a provider address does not automatically hide every owner detail or guarantee banking acceptance. Later reports may collect other information, and a bank can require the actual physical location. Keep those purposes separate.

Ongoing compliance

Ask what any premium service files, what it merely reminds you about, and whether government fees are additional. MyCompanyWorks’ recurring premium line and Northwest’s optional services should be compared by actual deliverable, not the label compliance.

Maintain your own obligation register with agency, deadline, source and responsible person. Export accepted filings. If you stop a service, transfer reminders and records before account access ends.

Check current federal rules as well. FinCEN’s BOI guidance currently exempts U.S.-created entities. Do not pay for old mandatory-sounding checklist items without checking the agency.

Support claims and limitations

This documentary comparison does not measure response speed or filing accuracy. Ask about preparation estimates, state-processing assumptions and correction policies. If timing matters, get the relevant commitment in writing.

For cross-border ownership, regulated activity or a disputed contract, obtain advice suited to the facts. Administrative filing assistance can implement a decision without being the source of the legal analysis.

The decision

Shortlist MyCompanyWorks when its guided setup materials fit your working style. Shortlist Northwest when its agent scope, permitted-address approach and bundle match your needs. Compare the same task basket and renewal period before choosing.

Review MyCompanyWorks and review Northwest after deciding the structure and state. Buy the administrative scope you understand, with a separate plan for uncovered obligations.
